Skin Care

This one caught on my attention. Sometimes i liked to collect clippings from newspapers or everywhere on anything that interest me.I know that i'm gonna learn something on this so i'm sharing this to everybody and for me to remind myself too. Skin is so important so we have to take good care of it. Everybody aged but caring for our skin is also same as caring for our health.

The 6 Biggest Skin-Care Mistakes

1. Using a cleanser with harsh detergents: Many people assume that the suds of their vigorously foaming cleanser are a good sign -- surely they'll leave skin extra clean. Unfortunately, copious suds are generally a sign that your cleanser contains a harsh detergent, like lauryl sulfate, that strips skin of vital lipids. (And don't get me started on bar soap -- that is always a no-no.) Instead, look for cleansers that contain fatty acids and will actually fortify your skin, like Dove's ProAge products, or even simple cold cream. If you have particularly dry skin, I recommend cleansing oils, which remove dirt and makeup without disturbing your skin's natural protective barrier.
2. Not using a retinoid: Retinol, a form of vitamin A, is the only topical ingredient proven not only to prevent lines and wrinkles but to minimize the ones you already have. Past the age of 30, I recommend seeing a dermatologist for a higher-concentration prescription retinoid (like Retin-A, Differin, or Tazorac, for example), but there are also many great over-the-counter creams that contain lower concentrations of retinol. I like Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream, Neutrogena Healthy Skin Night Cream, and SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0.
3. Spending too much on skin care: Splurging on the beautiful packaging and luxurious scents of pricey boutique skin care lines can feel wonderfully pampering -- provided you know that it's absolutely not necessary for great skin. In fact, many of my favorite products are made by drugstore brands, because those companies have the large budgets for top-notch research and development. If you have to choose, put your money toward that prescription retinoid, and buy the rest of your regimen at the drugstore.
4. Getting facials: Yes, that's right -- you can strike facials from your skin-care budget and actually be doing your skin a favor! Studies show that as many as 80% of people break out after a facial. Aestheticians often don't know which products are right for the skin of each client, and may use ingredients that can worsen acne, or essential oils that tend to irritate sensitive skin. Even if you don't break out, there are really no long-term benefits to facials.
5. Washing your face at the wrong time: Always wash your face after you rinse out your hair products and conditioner in the shower, never before. Many conditioners contain pore-clogging isopropyl myristate and other hair products often contain coconut oil -- both are common acne-causing ingredients that you don't want to leave on your skin.
6. Not using sunscreen every day: Not just for your trip to the beach. Not just during the long summer days. Every day. Yes, it's important to be even more vigilant if you plan to spend lots of time in direct sunlight. But incidental sun exposure typically accounts for more of our lifetime exposure to ultraviolet rays than those days at the beach. Walking to and from your car, dashing out of the office for a sandwich, or sitting outside for a few minutes adds up -- make sure you're covered with at least SPF 15, every day.

Christmas Wish for Each and Everyone

Forwarded on Christmas day, whoever reads this, this is my wish for you from this day and always...

Today...I wish you a day of ordinary miracles-
A fresh pot of coffee you didn't have to make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work or shop.
I wish you a day of little things to rejoice in...
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing along song on the radio.
Your keys right where you look.
I wish you a day of happiness and perfection-little bite-size pieces of perfection that give you the funny feeling that the Lord is smiling on you,
holding you so gently because you are someone special and rare.
I wish You a day of Peace, Happiness and Joy.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
Send this phrase to the people you'll never forget
It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them.
If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're in too much of a hurry and that you've probably forgotten your friends.
Take the time!
Wishing you the very best
and....
PEACE ON EARTH!!

Christmas '08

Belated Merry Christmas everyone hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas. I was busy this past days, been working everyday and preparing for the holiday. We had a wonderful Christmas too. Have our Christmas eve dinner in the house, went to church after and open our presents when we get home. Some people open their presents early morning on the Christmas day but ours we open it on the night of Christmas eve. That's what my husband's tradition and so as we in our family in the Philippines. On the day of Christmas, twas raining but we went drove to Yarnell hoping we can see some snow. There was no luck but we still have a good time, raining and foggy around Yarnell and we decided not to go farther more. Some pictures on our Christmas, i was just happy watching my daughter opening her presents. She is such a delight...

Power of a Teacher

This was forwarded by my husband's aunt. She was a retired teacher of a 1st to 3rd grade. She is such a wonderful aunt that even my daughter loved her so dearly. She is still a great teacher and every time she come down from Montana she reads, tell story and have there little lessons every time she babysit my daughter.

THIS IS PRICELESS!!
After being interviewed by the school administration, the teaching prospect said,
'Let me see if I've got this right:
'You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive
behaviour, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor
their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.
' You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and
sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.
'You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and
fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.
You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behaviour,
and make sure that they all pass the state exams.
'You want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps,
and communicate regularly with their parents by letter, telephone, newsletter, and
report card.
'You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board,
a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.
You want me to do all this and then you have the nerve to tell me.................
'I CAN'T PRAY?!!!'

Internet Explorer Security Alert

When i heard about the news, of course i get alarmed as an Internet Explorer user. In the meanwhile i am temporarily using FireFox at this moment. It's hard to have a virus in the computer, driving me crazy and if it's not fixable or hard to fix, I'm gonna lost all my files and start over again buy replacing the hard drive. But this time scary hackers are everywhere so it's nice to be safe.
This is the 1st news that i heard:

"The major press outlets are abuzz this morning with news of a major new security flaw that affects all versions of Internet Explorer from IE5 to the latest beta of IE8. The attack has serious and far-reaching ramifications -- and they're not just theoretical attacks. In fact, the flaw is already in wide use as a tool to steal online game passwords, with some 10,000 websites infected with the code needed to take advantage of the hole in IE.

Virtually all security experts (as well as myself) are counseling users to switch to any other web browser -- none of the others are affected, including Firefox, Chrome, and Opera -- at least for the time being, though Microsoft has stubbornly said it "cannot recommend people switch due to this one flaw." Microsoft adds that it is working on a fix but has offered no ETA on when that might happen. Meanwhile it offers some suggestions for a temporary patch, including setting your Internet security zone settings to "high" and offering some complicated workarounds. (Some reports state, however, that the fixes do not actually work.)

Expedient patching or switching are essential. Security pros fear that the attack will soon spread beyond the theft of gaming passwords and into more criminal arenas, as the malicious code can be placed on any website and can be adapted to steal any password stored or entered using the browser. It's now down to the issue of time: Will Microsoft repair the problem and distribute a patch quickly enough to head off the tsunami of fraud that's about to hit or will it come too late to do any good?

Meanwhile, I'll reiterate my recommendation: Switch from Internet Explorer as soon as you can. You can always switch back once the threat is eliminated."

This is the latest tonight and they are giving opinions for the best things to do to protect our computer before they can fix the problems. So just check this out...

Microsoft is rushing out a software 'patch' at 6pm this evening to fix the problem. But how can you protect your computer in the meantime? Our technical expert, Rick Maybury, offers his top tips for ensuring your machine stays safe and secure:
  • Don't panic! Althought the security flaw is a serious one, it has been identified and is about to be resolved. The majority of affected sites are in the Far East, and the Microsoft patch will be automatically downloaded to millions of computers over the next day or so, although we recommend installing it as soon as it's available – you can get it from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ .
  • Download a temporary fix released by security company Prevx: http://www.prevx.com/ie7.asp. This disables the vulnerable file (oledb32.dll), and will also restore it when the fuss dies down.
  • Alternatively, increase the security level in Internet Explorer by going to Tools > Internet Options > Security. Click the Custom Level button and select 'High' on the Reset Custom Settings drop down menu.
  • Switch to another browser for the duration. Secure alternatives include Firefox, Google Chrome , Apple Safari and Opera. They are all free and run alongside Internet Explorer without any problems.
  • Avoid visiting Far Eastern websites, or sites carrying pornographic content.
  • Make sure your security software is set to update automatically.
  • If you absolutely must use Internet Explorer and visit risky sites then do not click on any unexpected popup boxes. If one appears close the program immediately by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete, (in Vista select Task Manager), select the browser on the list and click End Task.

The Spirit of Christmas

Christmas is the time of love, a time for sharing and a time for joy. Would it be nice if everyday is Christmas not just every 25th of December? Today i get a chance to finish shopping a gift for Christmas and done wrapping it and putting under our tree. I'm done wrapping and packing ready to ship for my in-laws in Montana also and might mail it tomorrow. Cards are ready for mail as well and i just send money for my family and it's up for them on what they want for Christmas. My husband's Aunt and Uncle are leaving us for Christmas, they just left yesterday cause Uncle Bob is not doing fine, we surely do miss them this Christmas cause the past two Christmas they were always celebrating with us. Sending our gifts with them and of course it's all wrapped. Oh Christmas! It's my favorite holiday of all and i like it so much in the Philippines. Sure do miss it there...maybe next time... hope so..

Betty Page

The famous 1950s pinup model Bettie Page dies in LA at 85. Thursday Dec. 11 at 85 years of age Betty page died at LA Hospital.
If New York had Marilyn Monroe LA of course had Betty Page, both were famous of being a sexy models and an iconic figure, influencing notions of beauty and fashion. Bettie Page captured the imagination of a generation of men and women with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality. Well, Betty is mostly as a model most popular of her nude and sexy pictures or wearing high heels some covers on her private parts and some sexy clothes. You know pinup clothes like those sexy pinup girls of today but Betty popularized the pinup style in the 50's. She was also very much known of her dark bangs which became her signature.

Colds and Flu

It's winter time once again and colds and flu are just around the corner. By the time we feel the change of the weather, the first one who got colds is my husband. Headache at first then sneezing and coughing for few days. Then me sneezing and until now is a little sore throat. Now is my daughter with runny nose, stuffy nose and probably a sore throat. She is less active last weel and her eyes looks tired all the time. She doesn't like to cover up in the night and i always wakes up in the middle of the night just to cover her but still end up in the morning without cover.I bought her a bigger size of her fleece coverall pajama, keeping her warm even if she's not in the cover. She is seems a little better now thank goodness with less crying in the night and i'm giving her medication and rubbing her with baby rub. Even my husbands uncle got some colds from us even though every year they always get a flu shots. I found this in the Internet it's the 9 tips to treat colds and flu in "the natural" way. As what my husband's always likes the natural way which is very good and i learned a lot from him. To all my friends just a simple and friendly reminder to cover up and keep warm all the time.

9 Tips to Treat Colds and Flu the 'Natural' Way

No. 1: Blow Your Nose Often -- and the Right Way
It's important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can cause an earache. The best way to blow your nose: Press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Wash your hands after blowing your nose.
No. 2: Stay Rested
Resting when you first come down with a cold or the flu helps your body direct its energy toward the immune battle. This battle taxes the body. So give it a little help by lying down under a blanket.
No. 3: Gargle
Gargling can moisten a sore throat and bring temporary relief. Try a teaspoon of salt dissolved in warm water, four times daily. To reduce the tickle in your throat, try an astringent gargle -- such as tea that contains tannin -- to tighten the membranes. Or use a thick, viscous gargle made with honey, popular in folk medicine. Steep one tablespoon of raspberry leaves or lemon juice in two cups of hot water; mix with one teaspoon of honey. Let the mixture cool to room temperature before gargling. Honey should never be given to children less than 1 year old.
No. 4: Drink Hot Liquids
Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, help prevent dehydration, and can soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.
No. 5: Take a Steamy Shower
Steamy showers moisturize your nasal passages and relax you. If you're dizzy from the flu, run a steamy shower while you sit on a chair nearby and take a sponge bath.
No. 6: Use a Salve Under Your Nose
A small dab of mentholated salve under your nose can open breathing passages and help soothe the irritated skin at the base of the nose. Menthol, eucalyptus and camphor all have mild numbing ingredients that may help relieve the pain of a nose rubbed raw.
No. 7: Apply Hot or Cold Packs Around Your Congested Sinuses
Either temperature may help you feel more comfortable. You can buy reusable hot or cold packs at a drugstore. Or make your own. Take a damp washcloth and heat it for 55 seconds in a microwave (test the temperature first to make sure it's right for you.) Or take a small bag of frozen peas to use as a cold pack.
No. 8: Sleep With an Extra Pillow Under Your Head
This will help with the drainage of nasal passages. If the angle is too awkward, try placing the pillows between the mattress and the box springs to create a more gradual slope.
No. 9: Don't Fly Unless Necessary
There's no point adding stress to your already stressed-out upper respiratory system, and that's what the change in air pressure will do. Flying with cold or flu congestion can hurt your eardrums as a result of pressure changes during takeoff and landing. If you must fly, use a decongestant and carry a nasal spray with you to use just before takeoff and landing. Chewing gum and swallowing frequently can also help relieve pressure.

Kung Fu Panda

Have you everybody watched this movie already? Am i the only one who is so behind in here as usual? For those who is like me better not missed this one. I traded this to the other movie when we get a chance to go out in the movie theater. It's probably the The Dark Knight is what we've watched.(sniff..sniff) I traded my idol Angelina Jolie who is happen to be the owner of the voice of tigress. I am just giving my husband a favor cause that is Heath Ledger last movie. Anyway, we can always watched it in the DVD, but at least i seen it even i'm so late. Well it's just hilarious, i probably gonna watched it over again for few more months. It's just cracked me up and it's been awhile i've watched a real comedy movie without those stupid words they used, the writer, the director and the actors thinks it's funny and good enough to sell to the public. They think using dirty words are funny enough! Whatever! They probably think that they can't make people laugh without using dirty bad words and swearing all the time.

The Call - Regina Spektor

I just watched the Chronicle of Narnia - Prince Caspian. It's very nice movie, i've waited for it for a long time in DVD cause i can't concentrate in the movie theater with my daughter. I loved the ending theme song. So i'm gonna keep it here in my blog so i can remember it always.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWr0Z6VJL4I

THE CALL - Regina Spektor

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never
Been this way before

All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
'Til they're before your eyes

You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say good bye

You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say good bye

Amazing Race 13TH

Amazing race seasons 13th finale last night. I was so disappointed not by the result but by the TV station cause it doesn't have sounds, the rest of the channel has, just the CBS. We are watching the whole season and the finale screwed up.. arggh!! Well, just watch it as it is couldn't hear what are they talking about and what their clues says. So happy for the result, the brother's and sister's proved that they're dominating the race after coming first many times at the pit stop. Most of the time those people who come first at the pit stop many times won't get the million dollars. They won a lot of prizes plus the 1 million dollars... aren't they lucky? Happy for the separated husband's and wife for finishing as second, the race fixed their relationship by understanding and listening to each other. The frat guys finished on 3rd, being the underdog since the beginning of the race to finish 3rd. For having a lot of mistakes on the way and lost on the finale is really not bad being the 3rd. They amuses me, for their competitors so serious some were arguing, good thing this frat boys stays till the finale to amuses the viewers.

Pacquiao! Pacquiao!

You did it again! If you could just see the pictures of both of their faces, Manny's face is clean looks like no cuts no bruise but on Oscar gosh check it to yourself. De la Hoya couldn't take Pacman's punches after the 8th round. He had to stop the fight so Pacman won TKO (Technical Knock Out). Congratulations Pacman!

My New Hobby

Yes, i started a new hobby today... I watched one time at Antiques Road Show this woman bringing her collection of brooch pinned in a mannequin shape. I said to myself if i been doing that since i started going into a yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores i probably have a lot of collection of brooch. It's just given me an idea for my new hobby and she collected it for 10 years and mostly she bought it for a dollar below. That's exactly the price of some of those sales. So starting today i bought some for my collection maybe after ten years i'm gonna bring this to the Antiques Road Show and worth 10,000 as what the woman's collections worth. hhaha! She just collected it, she had no idea if it's old or new, marking or without any markings. The appraisal lady said that her collection is a mixed old and new but still worth $10,000 all for a nice collections.

De La Hoya Vs Pacquiao

A fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao this Saturday, Dec.6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This is gonna be a great fight as both of them were great fighter. I just couldn't remember but i know for sure that i watched De La Hoya's fight before against Mayweather at TV of course. In this fight anything can happen but i still hope and pray that Pacquiao will win. They both skillful and expert as a matter of boxing. De La Hoya might be bigger, taller and older than Pacquiao and Paquiao might be younger and won more but as i said anything can happen. I know they prepared so hard for this fight cause they both wanted to win. So just wanna find out who will win this Saturday, i have work this Saturday so maybe when i get home i will know by then. "Cross fingers" go Paquiao!! GO!

22 Days Before Christmas

Today is my day-off and i just got a chance to put some Christmas decorations around the house, just some and will put some more. We bought our 6.1" Douglas fir Christmas Tree today too and can't wait to put some lights and decorations around it. That might be some tomorrow before i work and Thursday my last day-off for the week.My husband's can't wait to have a real tree again cause this time our daughter is old enough to understand to not picking the falling leaves from the tree and eat it. My daughter is helping me taking some decorations out from the box, she seems so excited too and she loved all my snow mans decorations it's one of her favorite. Last years she was only 19 months old so she doesn't know whats going on but this time she's kinda' carried away, kinda' excited and loves the decorations. She'll stopped and look around every time she sees at the store. She'll sing along with me too cause i always played Christmas songs in the house.

Love Story -Taylor Swift

LOVE STORY - Taylor Swift

We were both young when I first saw you.
I close my eyes and the flashback starts:
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air.

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns.
See you make your way through the crowd
and say hello;

Little did I know
That you were Romeo; you were throwing pebbles,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
And I was crying on the staircase,
begging you, 'Please, don't go.'"

And I said,"
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'"

So I sneak out to the garden to see you.
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew.
So close your eyes; escape this town for a little while.
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter,
And my daddy said "Stay away from Juliet,
"But you were everything to me; I was begging you,
'Please, don't go,'"

And I said,
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'

Romeo save me - they're tryin' to tell me how to feel;
This love is difficult, but it's so real.
Don't be afraid; we'll make it out of this mess.
It's a love story - baby just say "Yes.

'"Oh.I got tired of waiting,
Wondering if you were ever comin' around.
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town,

And I said,
"Romeo save me - I've been feeling so alone.
I keep waiting for you but you never come.
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think-"

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said,
"Marry me, Juliet - you'll never have to be alone.
I love you and that's all I really know.
I talked to your dad - go pick out a white dress;
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes."'

Oh, oh.
We were both young when I first saw you...

Great Savers Prescription Eyeglasses

I felt bad for people can't do anything without wearing eyeglasses, and glasses is like a part of their wardrobe everyday. It's understandable with old people to wear cause they're already make used of their eyes but how about the little ones so early to lost of the sense of sight. In this economy?Everything is in high price and most people spends just on their basic needs like on foods, shelter and clothing and usually nothing to spear on other important things. Just hoping and praying that nobody get sick or else the budget will miss up and stuck on credits. Before i heard about Zenni Optical, i heard that consultations and eyeglasses are very spendy specially the prescription eyeglasses. My husband's aunt bought her prescription eyeglasses last year worth $500+ just for the eyeglasses. And just recently she accidentally step on it, the good thing is nothing brokes just the handle missed up. The $500 is almost down to the drain and i'm not sure if she insured it. You know accidents happens, it's important for her to have eyeglasses especially when she is driving cause that's part of her driver's licence.
