US Food Capitals

It is nice to know where were the sources of the foods we ate everyday. Some probably an export but most probably produced just around some part of America. Based on some of what i've read, California has a wide farm land and theres probably most of the fresh produce comes from. Most States probably has it's own sources of there own food and some foods were imports from other States. Like this...

Cincinnati - Chili Capital
Cincinnati, Ohio, doesn’t serve up the Tex-Mex chili most are used to, but surely has the most chili restaurants of any city in the United States. Created in the 1920s by immigrant restaurateurs, Cincinnati chili has more in common with a Mediterranean stew, its beef spiced more with cumin and cinnamon than chile peppers. You get it two-way (over spaghetti), three-way (over spaghetti with cheese), four-way (over spaghetti with cheese and beans or onions) or five-way (over spaghetti with cheese, onions, and beans). Empress Chili was the progenitor, but the Goldstar and Skyline chains are the largest, each with dozens of outlets in Cincinnati and elsewhere. Skyline met with such success that it went public in 1986 and was bought up by Fleet Equity Partners in the late 1990s. Of course, the city’s healthy appetite for its beloved creation fosters a trove of independent eateries, still serving it whatever way you like.

San Francisco – Burrito Capital
The giant burritos beloved by cheap food aficionados do have an ancestral home, and somewhat surprisingly, it’s the Mission District of San Francisco. The Mission burrito folds in rice, guac, sour cream and sometimes more into the bean/cheese/meat blend, thus creating legendary burritos as big as your head. The true origins are murky — modern legends always are — but folks generally agree that the taqueria El Faro was the first to create this iteration back in 1961. And with well over 100 places across the city where you can pig out, debate about which joint is the best is hot. But in the Mission, you can’t go wrong with La Cumbre, El Farolito or La Taqueria.

Gainesville, Ga. - Poultry Capital of the World
In Georgia, the General Assembly declared the whole state the Poultry Capital of the World in 1995. A slew of data backs up the claim—or at least the claim of the entire Southeast U.S. —and Georgia is an enormous producer of the broilers that we all devour. But in 1977, Gainesville, Ga., beat its parent to the punch, asserting that the town itself, a center of poultry production, was in fact the Poultry Capital of the World. See for yourself in the Georgia Poultry Park in downtown Gainesville, where you’ll find the chicken monument—a twenty-five foot high marble statue, topped with a three-foot rooster, with information about the poultry industry decorating its base.

Mendota, Ill. – Corn Capital
Beauty pageants occupy a strange place in the American landscape. Some people find Miss America, Miss USA and their ilk offensive, but in some towns, beauty pageants are an adorably retro centerpiece of the harvest festivities. Halfway between Chicago and Davenport, Iowa, the town of Mendota, Ill., has offered its Sweet Corn Festival since 1948, bringing under one umbrella festivities that have taken place in a variety of forms for nearly one hundred years. Today, they draw about 60,000 people who eat fifty to sixty tons of sweet corn (from Del Monte, which maintains a major operation there) over one weekend in August, and award a local high school girl the title of Miss Sweet Corn Queen amidst the craft dealers, live bands and carnival.

Gilroy, Calif. – Garlic Capital of the World
For those unafraid of garlic breath, take a trip to Gilroy, Calif., at the end of July. One of the largest harvest festivals in the country, Gilroy—laying claim to the title of Garlic Capital of the World—serves up two tons of garlic in a wide range of dishes including garlic ice cream, of all things. Since its inception in 1979 as a charitable event, the Gilroy Garlic Festival has raised over $8 million for nonprofit organizations in the area, and attracts over 100,000 visitors to its celebratory weekend—including a handful of young women from the region, who can breathe a bit more easily (if not less garlicky) when they announce who has captured the tiara of Miss Gilroy Garlic Queen.

More corn capitals?
Speaking of corn, it should surprise no one that America’s heartland is home to a couple of contenders for Corn Capital. Olivia, Minn., lays claim to the throne as a center of production and agricultural research (including agri-giants Monsanto and BASF) and has been designated as such by the Minnesota State Senate. There’s a 25-foot tall ear of corn that tops a gazebo in its Memorial Park to prove it. The Corn Capital Days celebration, featuring not only a corn toss, but also the Corn-lympics, pops off at the end of July.
But Mitchell, S.D., is no slouch—it’s celebrated the cereal grain we all know and love since 1892 with the Mitchell Corn Palace. Twice, the Corn Palace outgrew its homes, and its third incarnation, completed in 1921, is the one we know today. Both its façade and internal walls of the Palace’s auditorium feature murals made entirely of corn kernels, celebrating an annually changing theme. If you’re in South Dakota at the end of August, you can check out the “Everyday Heroes” display for yourself at the yearly Corn Palace Festival.

Blueberry Capital(s) of the World
In 1984, Ronald Reagan lent credence to Hammonton, N.J.’s claim to being Blueberry Capital of the World, by, well, calling it that in a campaign speech as he ran for re-election. But Hammonton does have a legit claim, with soil perfectly suited to cultivating New Jersey’s state fruit. And with a festival that the former President would have loved—the Red, White, and Blueberry Festival—now entering its 22nd year, it’s not likely they’d give up the title any time soon. But wait! Portland, Oregon has a festival of the same name! And South Haven, Mich., plays host to the National Blueberry Festival, featuring tribute bands and a cook-off that in 2007 featured delectable treats like a Blueberry Crème ‘Blue’ Lee and Blueberry Ginger Dressing Sauce. I’m not sure who wins the blueberry throwdown, but it’s sure to be messy.

One Expensive Fish

On one of Tokyo's Fish Auction, 2 sushi bar owners paid more than $100,000 US for a Japanese bluefin tuna. 2 competitors shared on one fish, one owns a sushi bar in Hong Kong and the the other one a Japanese sushi bar. 2 competitors reached a peaceful settlement to share the big fish. Isn't that great? It is proven that they were great competitors.

Power of a Teacher

This was forwarded by my husband's aunt. She was a retired teacher of a 1st to 3rd grade. She is such a wonderful aunt that even my daughter loved her so dearly. She is still a great teacher and every time she come down from Montana she reads, tell story and have there little lessons every time she babysit my daughter.

THIS IS PRICELESS!!
After being interviewed by the school administration, the teaching prospect said,
'Let me see if I've got this right:
'You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive
behaviour, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor
their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.
' You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and
sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.
'You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and
fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.
You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behaviour,
and make sure that they all pass the state exams.
'You want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps,
and communicate regularly with their parents by letter, telephone, newsletter, and
report card.
'You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board,
a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.
You want me to do all this and then you have the nerve to tell me.................
'I CAN'T PRAY?!!!'

I Am Thankful!

I am thankful for everything I have experienced
In this life of mine
For in all I have found
That in His Word-the answers I find
I am thankful for all the tears I have cried
For they have taught me to appreciate laughter
They have given me the ability to see the
The joy that comes after
Through my tears I have come to know
His Holy Spirit in my life
How He is always there
And comforts through the strife
I am thankful for the storms I have encountered
Knowing that the rainbow is at the end
Realization that they are only temporal
That with time all will mend
I have learned that I don’t need to be strong
For God's supplies the strength for me
He shoulders my burdens
Regardless of what the circumstance may be
I am thankful for all the relationships
For the good and yes, for the bad
For they have given life to my emotions
An appreciation of what I have had
My most valuable relationship
Is that with Yahweh, my Father
I know that I can trust Him
As I can trust no other
I am thankful for the pain I have known
It has given a compassion for the suffering
An ability to reach out to others
An appreciation of little things
I understand the greatness of Jesus love
And the pain He has suffered for me
How He endured all things
So that I could be set free
I am thankful for the hunger and thirst
That I have had to go through
I appreciate having food before me
And sharing it with others too
He has given himself as my food and drink
To make sure that I was fed
His Blood shed for my drink
And His Body broken for my bread
Most of all, I am thankful for His Grace
For the provisions that it brings
How it has provided for
Me in all things.

Asparagus

Why and how asparagus is one of an aphrodisiac food? Based on the book "INTER COURSES" an aphrodisiac cookbook it says:
"These stately stalks first received their aphrodisiac status from the Doctrine of Signatures. Also known as the Law of Similarities, this theory says that if one thing looks like or is reminiscent of another, then it will improve or aid that which it looks like. So if food looks sexual, then the Doctrine of Signatures says it is meant to improve or aid sex. And indeed, asparagus is a beautiful (albeit slender) phallic symbol. The great French lovers of yesteryear dined on three courses of it on the night before the wedding. According to Diane Ackerman in A Natural History of Love, the legendary Hollywood lover of all lovers, Richard Burton, deemed the stalks lascivious. Today we know that asparagus is packed with potassium, phosphorous, calcium and vitamin E and offers the love-hungry extra energy, a well-working urinary tract and kidneys, and a natural dose of a "sex vitamin" necessary for increased hormone production.

hmmm...interesting.

Chocolate

Why the chocolate is an aphrodisiac food?
The book says that: "The Aztecs and Mayans were the first to recognize the potency of chocolate, celebrating the harvest of the cacao bean with festivals of wild orgies. The Aztec ruler, Motezuma, reportedly drank 50 cups of chocolate each day to better serve his harem of 600 women. The belief in chocolate carried on through the Mayan empire where payment for a night at the brothel cost one handful of cacao beans. Seventeenth-century church officials deemed to partake of chocolate. Casanova, the infamous 18th-century lover, believed in the power of chocolate. And if sales are any indication of our faith in chocolate, then we do too: sales in 1990s average 600,000 tons of cacao beans consumed each year. Obviously a tried-and-true staple for lovers, chocolate now has backing from the scientific community. Besides the jolt of caffeine served up in a piece of chocolate, this savory candy also contains PEA, or phenylethylamine, the very same molecule that courses through the veins of one who is in love. Combine our internal stores of this natural amphetamine with chocolate, and one only heightens that giddy sensation known as love."
Hhmmmppp??.How they know all this things? hmmmmm?

Bridge for Animals

This is an email from my husband's cousin. He's goin back and fourth from Alaska to Montana and passed this bridge everytime. Very nice picture and he said before this brigde was built he had to wait for hours to crossed the herd of animals and sometimes they bed down in the middle of the highway and a lot of animals at that time were killed.

This is the turn-off at Banff, Alberta , Canada to the #1 highway to Calgary.Great picture isn't it?They had to build the animals (especially the elk) their own bridge because that was where their natural crossing was. After the highway was built there were far too many animals killed. It didn't take the animals long to learn that this was their very own bridge!

Contentment

Forwarded via mail.
You'll learn form this story... It's very interesting story that people should think about specially in time of hardship.

Be Contented
After a conversation with one of my friends, he told me despite taking 2 jobs, he brings back barely above 1K per month, he is happy as he is. I wonder how he can be as happy as he is considering he has to skimp his life with the low pay to support a pair of old parents, in-laws, a wife, 2 daughters and the many bills of a household. He explained that it was through one incident that he saw in India... that happened a few years ago when he was really feeling low and touring India after a major setback. He said that right in front of his very eyes, he saw an Indian mother chop off her child's right hand with a chopper. The helplessness in the mother's eyes, the scream of pain from the innocent 4-year-old child haunted him until today. You may ask why did the mother do so; had the child been naughty, had the child's hand been infected?? No, it was done for two simple words - - - TO BEG! The desperate mother deliberately caused the child to be handicapped so that the child could go out to the streets to beg. Taken aback by the scene, he dropped a piece of bread he was eating half-way. And almost instantly, a flock of 5 or 6 children swamped towards this small piece of bread which was covered with sand, robbing bits from one another. The natural reaction of hunger. Stricken by the happenings, he instructed his guide to drive him to the nearest bakery. He arrived at two bakeries and bought every single loaf of bread he found in the bakeries. The owner was dumbfounded but willingly sold everything. He spent less than $100 to obtain about 400 loaves of bread (this is less than $0.25 per loaf) and spent another $100 to get daily necessities. Off he went in the truck full of bread into the streets. As he distributed the bread and necessities to the children (mostly handicapped) and a few adults, he received cheers and bows from these unfortunate. For the first time in his life he wondered how people can give up their dignity for a loaf of bread which cost less than $0.25. He began to tell himself how fortunate he is. How fortunate he is to be able to have a complete body, have a job, have a family, have the chance to complain what food is nice and what isn't nice, have the chance to be clothed, have the many things that these people in front of him are deprived of... Now I begin to think and feel it, too! Was my life really that bad? Perhaps... no, I should not feel bad at all... What about you? Maybe the next time you think you are, think about the child who lost one hand to beg on the streets.

"Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, it is the realization of how much you already have." When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

Simplicity

This is forwarded by my cousin via mail read it it's very interesting. For me i am just a simple person most of what you read on the bottom you'll find it on me. I have weakness too and i like nice stuffs but the question is do i really need it or if i can afford it? Our economy is down so refer on what you've read on the bottom and you'll learn something. For me you'll find more happiness in the simple life and content easily.

SIMPLICITY
Happiness is not found outside of you.. It doesn't come from cars, clothes, cash, or Caribbean cruises. Happiness is found within. But how can you find it if you don't have the simplicity of time and space to discover the most important things inyour life? How can you search the depths of your soul if youare too busy impressing others, acquiring wealth, protecting your properties, and paying your debts? Simplicity is not about the external either: living in a doghouse, eating in hepatitis joints, wearing rags. Let me define what it is: Simplicity is living from the core of your being.
A TREASURE MAP OF HAPPINESS
Simplicity will point to you where and what and who the gold is in your life. Let me share with you the seven powerful lessons I've learned on simple living:
1. LIVE ON LESS, AND DELIGHT IN THEM MORE -Some take their pleasure dining in classy restaurants, trips to Europe , and owning the latest home theatre-equipment. I've chosen the simple path: If I can simply be with my wife, or take a quiet stroll under a canopy of stars, or play with a child, or read a good book in my home, or laugh with friends over a pizza, I consider myself richly blessed. Focus on what you have and not on what you don'thave.
2. STOP RUNNING AND WALK INSTEAD- Here's the truth: The person who has covered the greatest distance does NOT win, but the one who has most enjoyed the journey does.. Stop running around chasing your own tail! Get off your hurried pace and learn to breathe. Replace doing with being. Learn to say "NO" to invitations, appointments, andcommitments, activities, and events that will rob you of your focus. Learn to say "YES" to rest, to tranquility, toquietness. 3. YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR WEALTH -I own very few things today. Because I am more than the brand of my watch, the logo of my shoes, the name of my car. I believe that if in my soul I deeply respect and value myself, people around me will sense that, and they too, will value and respect me – whether I'm wearingArmani or not. You are more than your wealth.
4. AVOID BUYING ON CREDIT- I don't believe in borrowing from credit cards. (For convenience, I use one card but I pay the whole amount at the end of eachmonth.) If I need something really bad, I save up for it. Sometimes, at midpoint, I realize I don't really need the darn thing and give up the whole idea.. The only exception I feel we should enter into credit is when buying a non-depreciating item, such as housing or land. I believe we should always live within our earning capacity. Proverbs 22:7 says, "Those who borrow are slaves of money lenders. "
5. GIVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN- If I content myself with a P250 shirt instead of aP4,000 Lacoste, I can help others more. Trust me, there is immense pleasure! You will find that the empty thrill of owning a diamond ring on your finger pales in comparison tothe joy of handing a piece of bread to an orphan child. "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, sothat in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in everygood work." (2 Corinthians 9:8) The Old Testament of tithing, or giving 10% of yourincome, is a good guideline to follow. The New Testament challenges us to give with acheerful heart. (When you're cheerful, you may give more than 10%! ) Make it a habit.
6. SAVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN- Saving is essential to being good stewards of themoney that God "lends" to> us.> Saving is an important way of providing for our future and both for our needs and to be generous to others. I recommend that you save at least 10% of your income. I can almost hear you now: "Bo, that's impossible!" Oh yeah? Well, how did you live three years back when your salary was one-half its present amount?" Sacrifice. Many of our needs are actually wants. Is cable TV a need? Will you suddenly die if you can't watch CNN or HBO?Are those new golf clubs essential to your existence? Invest in time deposits, long-term stocks, and housing.
7. BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET!!! -Make a list of all your monthly expenses, according to categories. Make also a list of irregular expenses, those that don't come monthly. Set up another savings account for those expenses and put in a little money each month. To differentiate this from the savings account, we call ours, "freedom account"because it frees us from worrying about them when they attack. And stick to your budget!!! ONE LAST WORD BEFORE WE CLOSE Balance! Don't take living simply to the extremes!!! Living simply doesn't mean living in deprivation! There are special days when my wife and I eat in a fancy restaurant. Or when we splurge into a vacation. Very rare, yes, but my point is that you take living simply NOT as a rigid goal – but as a happy process towards the goals of generosity, inner peace and holiness!

A Mother

"She is their earth.... She is their food and their bed and the extra blanket when it grows cold in the night; she is their warmth and their health and their shelter;...."

-KATHERINE BUTLER HATHAWAY-

BEING A MOTHER

BEING A MOTHER

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out
to dinner and a movie. She said, 'I love you, but I know this other
woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.'

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has
been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three
children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked?

My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a
surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

'I thought that it would be pleasant to spend sometime with you,' I
responded. 'Just the two of us.'

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that
very much.'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit
nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to
be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She
had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to
celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. 'I told my
friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were
impressed,' she said, as she got into the car. 'They can't wait to hear
about our meeting.'

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and
cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat
down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half
way through the entrees, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there
staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. 'It was I who used to
have to read the menu when you were small,' she said. 'Then it's time
that you relax and let me return the favor,' I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation -- nothing
extraordinary mostly catching up on recent events in each other's life.
We talked so much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again,
but only if you let me invite you.' I agreed.

'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home. 'Very nice,
it was much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened
so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her.

Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant
receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note
said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there;
but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for
your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love
you, son.'

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I LOVE
YOU' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in
life is more important than your family. Give them the time they
deserve, because these things cannot be put off till 'some other time.'

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after
you've had a baby...Somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother,
'normal' is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct....Somebody never
took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring...Somebody never rode in a car
driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a 'good' mother, your child will 'turn out
good'...Somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said 'good' mothers never raise their voices...Somebody never
came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball
through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother...Somebody
never helped a fourth grader with their math.

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the
first....Somebody doesn't have two children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing
questions in books...Somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose
or M&M's in her ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and
delivery...Somebody never watched her 'baby' get on the bus for the
first day of Kindergarten or on a plane headed for military 'boot camp.'

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand
tied behind her back ...Somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies
to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets
married...Somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or
daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves
home...Somebody never had Grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so You don't need to tell
her...Somebody isn't a mother.

What goes around comes around

FORWARDED VIA MAIL

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

'I want to repay you,' said the nobleman. 'You saved my son's life.'

'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.

'I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.' And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin?

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

Cup of Coffee - Very nice story

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite -telling them to help themselves to the coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: Ifyou noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change, the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us. God brews the coffee, not the cups. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest toGod.

Inspirational Story - worth reading for

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze. "Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked. She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..." "No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. "I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me. After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I 'l l never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know." As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "! We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it! There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a yea r and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets." She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose." She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

We make a Living by what we get, We make a Life by what we give. God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

I like the story it's so inspiring. As i said on one of my post " where there is life there is hope". There isn't too late to start believing to start dreaming just because we are too old. Live our life to the fullest and be our self don't care of what people gonna say as long we are happy in your life.

THE GREATEST ADVICE- Rick Warren

THE GREATEST ADVICE - Rick Warren, the Purpose Driven Life

Don't date because you are desperate.Don't marry because you are miserable.Don't have kids because you think your genes are superior.Don't philander because you think you are irresistible.
Don't associate with people you can't trust.Don't cheat. Don't lie. Don't pretend.Don't dictate because you are smarter.Don't demand because you are stronger.
Don't sleep around because you think you are old enough & know better.Don't hurt your kids because loving them is harder.Don't sell yourself, your family, or your ideals.
Don't stagnate!Don't regress.Don't live in the past. Time can't bring anything or anyone back.Don't put your life on hold for possibly Mr. Right.
Don't throw your life away on absolutely Mr. Wrong because your biological clock is ticking.Learn a new skill.Find a new friend. Start a new career.Sometimes, there is no race to be won, only a price to be paid for some of life's more hasty decisions.
To terminate your loneliness, reach out to the homeless. To feed your nurturing instincts, care for the needy. To fulfill your parenting fantasies, get a puppy.
Don't bring another life into this world for all the wrong reasons. To make yourself happy, pursue your passions & be the best of what you can be.
Simplify your life. Take away the clutter.Get rid of destructive elements: abusive friends, nasty habits, and dangerous liaisons.
Don't abandon your responsibilities but don't overdose on duty.Don't live life recklessly without thought and feeling for your family.Be true to yourself.
Don't commit when you are not ready.Don't keep others waiting needlessly.Go on that trip. Don't postpone it.
Say those words. Don't let the moment pass.Do what you have to, even at society's scorn.
Write poetry.Love Deeply.Walk barefoot.Dance with wild abandon.Cry at the movies.
Take care of yourself. Don't wait for someone to take care of you.You light up your life. You drive yourself to your destination. No one completes you - except YOU.
It isn't true that life does not get easier with age.It only gets more challenging.
Don't be afraid. Don't lose your capacity to love.Pursue your passions.Live your dreams.
Don't lose faith in God. Don't grow old. Just grow YOU!
When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give to someone is your time.
Relationships take time and effort, and the best way to spell love is T-I-M-E because the essence of love is not what we think or do or provide for others, but how much we give of ourselves.
God is good all the time! Life is short. Let`s make beautiful things happen.

George Carlin's Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!"You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the keyYou get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You couldbe 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . you become 21. Even the words soundlike a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, youREACH 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle;you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!" May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessentialnumbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them."
2. Keep only cheerfulfriends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laughoften, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
6. The tears happen.Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVEwhile you are alive.
7. Surround yourselfwith what you love ,whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips.Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people youlove that you love them , at every opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

How brilliant! yup, we can't control time... How fast it come and go. That's why enjoy every moment even how harsh, how painful, how unfair it is; this are just spicies of life and it will also passes by as how time passes so fast.

The Beauty of a Woman

Why Women Cry... A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she told him. "I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will." Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?" "All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry Finally he put in a call to God When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?" God said: "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that manytimes comes from her children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed." "You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."
